Obituary

Mrs. Carl H. Skaug, the former Hulda Silver was the oldest of nine children born to John Silver and Ingrid (Anderson) Silver. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 13, 1883, and at the age of five, came with her parents to Clarkfield where she has resided ever since. On July 12, 1906, she was united in holy matrimony to Carl H. Skaug in the same church where her funeral was held and which she has served during her entire residence here. This union was blessed with four children, namely, Valnette (Mrs. A.L. Nelson) of Blue Earth, Minnesota, Marjorie, at home, Hilding of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Belva (Mrs. Francis Eng) of White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Clarkfield was a very young community, having been platted only two years when Mrs. Skaug came with her parents. She has faithfully served her family, church and community. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, two sisters and four brothers. She is survived by her four children; one brother, Elmer Silver of Marshall, Minnesota, one sister, Mrs. John O. Carlson of Granite Falls, Minnesota; and five grandchildren: Thomas and Richard Skaug of Milwaukee, Virginia Eng of White Bear Lake, Thomas Nelson, a student at the University of Minnesota and John Nelson of Blue Earth.
