Obituary

Mrs. T.W. (Hulda) Harfiel, 92, died on Thursday, August 25, 1988, in the Luther Haven Nursing Home of Montevideo, Minnesota. Funeral services for Hulda Hartfiel were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 1988, from the Lynner Funeral Home Chapel of Clarkfield, Minnesota, with Pastor Jeff Swanson officiating. Organist was Kathy Jahn with vocal music by Pam Lehmann. Final Resting Place was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery of Boyd, Minnesota. Casket Bearers were Milroy Hartfiel, Jerry Just, Urban Just, Robert Kuhlmann, Leonard Lange and Leon Werner. Mrs. Hulda Hartfiel was born June 19, 1896, in Omro Township , Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Friedrick and Adaline (Kutz) Galow. She was baptized and confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church of Omro Township. Hulda attended rural school in Omro Township. On November 26, 1916, she was united in marriage to Theodore W. Harfiel. During her lifetime she was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church of Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Most of her married life was spent in Boyd, Minnesota, and later, after the death of her husband in 1980, she moved to Brookside Manor of Montevideo and then to Luther Haven Nursing Home. She is survived by her son, Lionel and daughter-in-law, Evelyn of rural Montevideo; one sister, Alma Silver of Clarkfield; two grandaughters, Dr. Donna Hartfiel and Mrs. Ronald (Bonnie) Kopitzke; two great grandchildren, five step children and eight step great grandchildren. Hulda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theodore; infant daughter, Marilyn; daughter-in-law, Alyce; two brothers; and one sister. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
