Homer Virgil Ree, the son of Nels and Guri (Stolsmark) Ree was born on March 10, 1924, in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized on May 22, 1924, at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, by Rev. Ole Lokensgard. He confirmed his faith before the same congregation by Rev. Alfred Jorgenson in 1939. On July 6, 1943, he was united in marriage to Theodora Friberg of Clarkfield, Minnesota, at Watertown, South Dakota. Five children were born to this union: Nona, Lana, Tamara, Thomas and Jocelyn. Homer was engaged in farming west of Hanley Falls until several years ago when he moved with his family to Portland, Oregon, where he was employed by a plywood manufacturing concern. He was also engaged with his brother, Kermit Ree, in the automotive sales business. On the evening of May 6, 1967, following an auto auction sale at a distant city, Homer and his brother, Kermit, lost their lives in an accident which occurred on a mountainous highway as they were returning to their homes in Portland. He is survived by his wife, Theodora; his son, Thomas Ree; three daughters: Lana, Tamara and Nona (Mrs. Dean Isaacs) the later of Hazel Run, Minnesota; two grandchildren; four brothers: Ervin and Newell Ree of Hanley Falls, Arthur Ree of Montevideo, Minnesota, and Waldo Ree of Wayzata, Minnesota; two sisters: Mrs. Ray Miller of Cottonwood, Minnesota, and Mrs. Ellis Hirman of Minneapolis.
