Hjalmer August Larson was born August 1, 1897, to Anton and Marie (Johnson) Larson at home in Eidsvold Township, Lyon County, Minnesota. He was baptized September 5, 1897, at Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County and confirmed July 21, 1912 by Rev. E. J. Hinderlie at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota, Minnesota. Hjalmer attended school in Taunton, Minnesota. On December 14, 1933, Hjalmer married Sophie Kompelien at Hope Lutheran Church. Hjalmer farmed for several years by Minneota and later purchased a farm by Hazel Run, Minnesota. After several years of farming they retired from their farm and moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota. After failing health they moved from their home to Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo, Minnesota, and Hjalmer lived there for the past nine years. Hjalmer passed away Saturday, June 15, 1991, at the age of 93 years. Surviving Hjalmer are niece, Sylvia Dahl of Marshall, Minnesota; and nephew, Wendell Larson of Minneota, Minnesota; and Sophie's nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Sophie in 1988; three brothers, Alfred, Clarence, and William; three sisters, Amanda, Mildred, and Victoria.
