Haakenson
March 18, 1890 – April 18, 1965
Hjalmar Haakenson was born in Ten Mile Lake Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, March 18, 1890, the son of Martin and Karine (Peterson) Haakenson. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd of which he was a faithful life member. He was confirmed by Rev. S.O Rondestvedt. He had been failing in health for some time. After spending two weeks at Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis, following surgery, he was admitted to the Dawson Hospital where he passed away Easter morning, April 18, 1965, at the age of 75 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. Surviving are a brother, Peter, a sister, Jorgina, at home, a sister, Ruth (Mrs. Gerhard Olson), all of Boyd; and a sister, Hannah (Mrs. Lawrence Jahnke) of Mattoon, Wisconsin.
