Christopherson
April 10, 1917 – May 5, 2003
Hiram S. Christopherson was born April 10, 1917, at Clarkfield, Minnesota, to Gustav and Alma (Stenson) Christopherson. He was baptized and later confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church where he remained a member his entire life. He graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1934. He married Helen Jorgenson and they lived in the Twin City area until 1941 when he returned to Clarkfield to farm with his father. He continued this occupation until retirement. For several years in the early 1950s, he operated a farm implement and automobile dealership in partnership with his father and brother-in-law, Edward Helgeson. After retirement, Hiram was very active in organizing and promoting the Minnesota Corn Growers, National Corn Growers, Minnesota Promotion and Research Council, National Feed Grains Council and other related groups. Hiram passed away on Monday, May 5, 2003, at the United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, at the age of 86 years, 25 days. He is survived by his wife, Helen; sons Bruce (and Helen) of Clarkfield, and Richard (and Donna) of Clarkfield; and daughter Barbara (and David) Kleven of Wayzata, Minnesota. He is also survived by grandchildren Chad (and Rebecca) Christopherson and their children Aidan and Bryce of Gig Harbor, Washington, Ryan (and Kris) Christopherson and children Jakob and Shelby of Norfolk, Virginia, grandson Andrew Kleven of Wayzata; and sister Gladys Helgeson.
