Hilma (Nelson) Heggerston was born on July 25, 1902 on a farm near Ivanhoe, Minnesota to parents Ole and Karen Nelson. She attended rural school. On April 3, 1922, she was married to Maurice Heggerston of Walnut Grove, where they lived on a farm. In 1936 they moved to Madison, Minnesota where she worked at the Lutheran Home. Moving to Boyd, in 1960, they remained there until May of 1989 when Maurice and Hilma moved to Golf View Apartments in Dawson. Hilma was a school cook for a few years in Boyd and was active in the women's activities of the church. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She enjoyed telling Bible stories using the flannel board. Hilma has been a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center since 1991. She passed away at the Care Center on Sunday morning, December 8, 1996 at the age of 94 years, 4 months, and 14 days. She is survived by a brother-in-law Harry Heggerston and nieces and nephews. Hilma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Maurice, two brothers, five sisters, and a few nieces and nephews. Blessed be her memory.
