Obituary

Hilda (Anderson) Ohman was born April 7, 1898, in Friendship Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Bernt and Olina (Eidahl) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and was a life long member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota, and church circle groups. She attended country school and as a young lady worked as a chambermaid at the Clarkfield Hotel. She also worked at the Ted Rodeberg home in Montevideo, Minnesota, and on November 7, 1926, she and Eddie G. Ohman were married in their home. To this union one daughter, Mavis J., was born. They made their home in this area most of their married life. After Ed's death in 1935, she worked at two local cafes as a cook. Following this, she was an assistant and Head Cook at Clarkfleld School for 18 years until her retirement. Her loving care and concern were shown to all who knew her. She cared for her mother and a couple of her brothers in her home when their health failed. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life and she loved and cared for them as her own. She spent a lot of her time with them and grew extra close to them. She enjoyed entertaining people in her home and her door was always open. She was always happy, contented and generous to others. She was a devoted Christian who loved Jesus, and shared her faith. Reading her Bible and praying for her loved ones was most important to her. Her greatest concern was their salvation and she saw many answers to her prayers. Hilda, 91, went home to be with Jesus on July 15, 1989, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital after a brief illness. She is survived by one daughter, Mavis and son-in-law Marvin Hegna of Clarkfleld; six grandchildren, Charlene and husband John Nelson of Hospers, Iowa, DeRon and Brian both of Colorado, Terry of San Diego, California, LuCinda and husband Alex Sanchez of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Kent and wife Priscilla of Portland, Texas; great grandchildren, Greg, Kimberlee, Amy and Angela Nelson and LaToria and Joshua Sanchez; one sister, Olga Martinson of the Johnson Memorial Nursing Home in Dawson, Minnesota; one brother, Tillman Anderson of Cottonwood, Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie; her parents; twin infant great granddaughters; sisters, Millie and Alma; brothers, Alfred, Johnny, Bennie, Gifford, Martin, Henry and Elmer. He did what He thought best. He put his arms around her and said, "Come and Rest". He opened up his golden gate on that heart breaking day and with His arms around her she gently slipped away. It broke our hearts to lose her, she did not go alone. A part of us went with her the day God called her home. Arrangements by Lynner Funeral Home Since 1891 Clarkfield Minnesota
