Hertha Alma Helene Just was born on March 18, 1905, at the home of her parents, Christ and Augusta Just, in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, rural Boyd, Minnesota. Hertha was baptized April 9, 1905, and confirmed May 29, 1919, at Zion Lutheran Church of Tyro Township. She graduated from Boyd High School and from St. Cloud Teachers College. She taught rural school in the Gaylord, Minnesota area. On November 2, 1929, she was united in marriage to Ewald W. Voss. They farmed in Omro Township before moving to Clarkfield, Minnesota, in 1964. Hertha worked as a Nurses Aid at the Clarkfield Care Center for several years. She was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Womens Mission League. Hertha passed away February 20, 1991, at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield, Minnesota, at the age of 85 years, 11 months and two days. Hertha is survived by two sons; Dennis and his wife Bertha of Litchfield and David and his wife Sue of West Des Moines, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Agnes Voss of Canby, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one sister, Delia Bock and her husband Almon of Buffalo, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Hertha in death were her parents; her husband, Ewald and son, Donald.
