Some 78 years ago, God blessed Fred G. Roske and Emma Roske with their only child, Herman Arthur Roske. He was born in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on October 9, 1899. On October 22, 1899, through the water of Holy Baptism, God washed Herman and made him His own dear child at St. John's Lutheran Church, Omro Township. Herman received his education at St. John's Lutheran Christian Day School and at public school. On April 5, 1914, Pastor William F. Pankow confirmed him. Herman continued to live in Omro Township for many years farming and playing in the Omro band for many years. On June 5, 1938, Herman was married to Ida Loose at Zion Lutheran Church, Pastor Louis Rosin officiating. For 21 years they lived on the farm, then moving to Clarkfield. They had recently observed their 40th wedding anniversary. In 1947 Herman retired from farming, helping others in the area with various odd jobs. In 1959 they moved to Clarkfield. Herman served in the church for nine years as an elder and also several years as a trustee. He also helped for the Diamond Jubilee of St. John's in 1957. Having suffered various ailments including surgery in 1951, Herman suffered a stroke on June 15, 1978, at his home, and passed away June 17, 1978, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, at the age of 78 years. Surviving are his wife, Ida; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; 13 nieces; nine nephews; cousins and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law. IN MEMORY OF HERMAN A.
