Herman John Koepp was born September 19, 1885, in Maxwell Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, to Julius and Augusta (Klatt) Koepp. He was baptized October 11, 1885, in St. John's Lutheran Church of Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, by Pastor Charles Bottcher. He was confirmed in 1900 by Pastor Hillyer. On November 24, 1910, he was united in marriage to Paulina Kesting. To this union, two sons were born: Erhardt of Minneota and Herbert of Boyd. They farmed in Omro Township until 1947 when they moved to Boyd. The past nine years he has made his home with Herbert. He passed away December 20, 1977, at Dawson Memorial Hospital, Dawson, Minnesota. Survivors are his two sons: Erhardt and Herbert; two daughters-in-law: Lydia and Flora; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by is parents; his wife Paulina; three grandchildren; one brother, Len; and four sisters: Emma (Mrs. Aug Dahlick), Ida (Mrs. George Miller), Alvina (Mrs. Otto Steinke), and Bertha (Mrs. Aug Lachelt). He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church.
