Obituary

Herman Henry Gebers was born December 2, 1879, in Audubon County, Iowa, the son of Henry Gebers and Trina Wedemeyer Gebers. In his infancy he was brought into the Christian church through baptism, having been baptized in St. John's Lutheran Church, Adair, Iowa, by Rev. Horn. He was confirmed in the same church by Rev. Cloeter. In 1912 he moved to Minnesota and settled on a farm one mile west of Clarkfield. Here he lived until 1949, when he retired and moved into town. On February 25, 1903, he was united in marriage to Marie Schlee. This union was blessed with five children, four of them living. They are Ellnora (Mrs. Gifford Maursetter) of Montevideo, Minnesota, Arthur of Didsbury, Alberta, Canada, LaVern of Clarkfield, and Kenneth of Boyd, Minnesota. One son, Earl, preceded him in death. In addition to his widow and four children, he is survived by 13 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one brother, Martin Schlee, who lives in Clarkfield while the sisters reside in Iowa. Mr. Gebers was in poor health for the last few years, during which time he found great comfort in God's own Word. He was up and about until noon of the last day, departing this life on October 21, 1954. He had attained the age of 74 years, ten months and 19 days.
