Herman F. Friberg, 74, resident of the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, January 27, 1989, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, Montevideo, Minnesota. Funeral services for Herman Friberg were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 1989, from the Augustana Lutheran Church of Clarkfield with Pastor Joyce Piper Knorr officiating. Organist was Karen Donner with vocal music provided by David Rupp. Military rites were by the American Legion J. Ben Johnson Post No. 169, Clarkfield, Minnesota. Burial was in the Fridhem Cemetery of Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Serving as Casket Bearers were Dale Berg, Leo Flattum, Chester Friberg, Curtis Lynner, Donavan Sturgeon and John W. Sturgeon. Herman was born August 19, 1914, to Theodore and Jenny (Benson) Friberg in Clarkfield. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended school in Clarkfield and served in the U.S. Army overseas during W.W. II. Herman spent most of his life as a painter and carpenter. On June 7, 1980 he and Mavis Olson were united in marriage. Survivors include five sisters, Mrs. Jim (Alice) Jacobson of Palm Dessert, California, Mrs. Ralph (Ethel) Lee of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, Agnes Friberg of Clarkfield, Mrs. Thoedora Ree of Portland, Oregon, and Mrs. Johnie (Ruth) Sturgeon of Willmar, Minnesota; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
