Herbert Wilson was born to Oliver C. and Carrie (Jorgenson) Wilson at their farm home in Stony Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on February 22, 1891. He was baptized by Rev. Ole Lokensgaard and confirmed by Rev. Fjelstad in Bergen Church. Mr. Wilson attended the Minnesota School of agriculture and Mankato Business College. He was united in marriage to Miss Maye Brekke on June 28, 1916, and settled on a farm in Hazel Run Township. Here he laid down 30 of the best years of his life, building up a highly productive farm, and at the same time never shirking civic duties that came his way. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Wilson were six children, one son, Carl, preceding him in death. The Wilson family moved to Hazel Run in 1946 and joined the Hazel Run Church that same year. He had been under medical care for two and one-half years and had failed noticeably the last few months. On Thursday morning, August 30, 1951, he entered the Clarkfield Memorial Hospital and passed away at 6:10 p.m. that same day, at the age of 60 years, two months and two days. Surviving are his wife, Maye; four sons: Curtis, Donald, Herbert, Jr., and Leslie, all of the Hazel Run and Clarkfield communities, and one daughter, Lila (Mrs. Richard Lynne); four sisters: Erla (Mrs. T.C. Thompson), Cora (Mrs. Gerhard Wilson), Anne and Julia of California; three brothers: Clarence and Henry of Granite Falls, and Walter of Stony Run Township; and five grandchildren.
