Herbert Herman Koepp was born November 2, 1916, in Omro Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Herman and Pauline (Kesting) Koepp. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church on December 10, 1916, and confirmed in 1931. He attended school at District 44 of Omro Township. Herb married Flora Harriet Garrison at St. John's Lutheran Church of Omro Township on March 6, 1941. He was inducted into the United States Army in September of 1941 at Fort Snelling. He trained in Wyoming and California and was stationed at Camp Hale, Colorado as a firefighter. Herb was discharged in September of 1943. Herbert attended Zion Lutheran Church, the church his grandfather, Julius Koepp, and others founded in the 1880s. His life revolved around faith, farming, and family. He farmed on his Grandfather Julius' homesteaded property until his retirement in 1981. Herb and Flora moved to Granite Falls, Minnesota, for a few years and then moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota. He was a member of the American Legion Post #169 of Clarkfield. He loved church activities and functions and enjoyed woodworking. He became a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center in January of 2002, where he passed away Friday, February 27, 2004, at the age of 87 years, 3 months, and 25 days. He is survived by his daughter, Carol (and Robert) Jensen of Dallas, Texas; and sons: Gordon (and Donna) of Clarkfield, David (and Cheryl) of Alexandria, Minnesota, and Bradley (and Kim) of Boyd, Minnesota. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Lydia Koepp and Irene Schmidtke; brother-in-law Harry Garrison; nieces; nephews; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Flora in 2000; three infant sons; and brother, Erhardt. Blessed be his memory.
