Herbert Gerhardt Just was born September 10, 1909, in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Christ and Augusta (Laechelt) Just. He was baptized by Rev. Hillger and confirmed by Rev. Luttmann at the Zion Lutheran Church. He attended public school in Tyro Township and also grew to manhood in the same community. On July 11, 1937, he was united in marriage to Gladys Skaalen. To this union two children were born: Marlys (Mrs. Kaye Christensen) of Hazel Run and Gary at home. They farmed for a number of years together with his brother, Paul, on his father's farm. Later on, they bought a farm in Lac qui Parle County, Ten Mile Lake Township, where they have been residing until his passing. Herbert served as director on the Boyd Farmers Elevator Board for a number of years. Herbert passed away January 21, 1969, at Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis after a lingering illness, at the age of 59 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Survivors are his wife, Gladys; son, Gary; daughter, Marlys; son-in-law, Kaye Christensen; and three grandchildren: Richard, Susan and Bradley Christensen; four brothers: William of St. Paul, Carl of Pennock, Fred and Paul of Boyd; four sisters: Tille (Mrs. Russell Johnson) of Montevideo, Hertha (Mrs. Ed Voss) of Clarkfield, Hattie (Mrs. George Linnee) of Montevideo, and Delia (Mrs. A.C. Bock) of Mayville, North Dakota; and a host of nieces and nephews. IN MEMORY OF HERBERT G.
