Herbert Johnson, 93, passed away March 1, 1988, at Luther Haven Nursing Home of Montevideo, Minnesota. Shared funeral services for Herbert and Emma Johnson were held Saturday, March 5, 1988, 1:30 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Montevideo with Pastor Robert Ostergaard officiating. Organist was Lois Baker and vocal music was by Pastor Bob Olson. Casket Bearers were Gary, Greg, John and Tom Hoff, Maury Miller, Don Miller, Larry Stensrud and Tim Tollefson. Interment was in the St. Lucas Lutheran Church Cemetery of Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Herbert was born in Lincoln County, Minnesota, May 28, 1894, to Berger and Carrie Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Minneota, Minnesota. In 1910 he, together with his mother and family, moved to Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, where he farmed until he moved to Montevideo and later lived in Clarkfield, Minnesota, before entering Luther Haven in Montevideo. He was married to Emma Trandahl on March 1, 1920, in Clarkfield. To this union three daughters were born, Theodora (Mrs. Wendell Miller) of Clarkfield, Lucyle (Mrs. Irving Varpness) of Buffalo, Minnesota, and Virginia (Mrs. Hubert Hoff) of Clarkfield. Herbert is survived by his daughters; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
