Obituary

Herbert Carl Halverson was born on March 29, 1910, to Elef and Ingeborg (Danielson) Halverson in Hazel Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Hazel Run Lutheran Church of which he was a member. He attended grade school in Hazel Run Township and was graduated from Morris Agricultural School. He worked for several years in Minneapolis and Rockford, Illinois, but was engaged in farming at the time of his entry into military service in June, 1942. Nine months of his four years, four months and four days were spent in Europe. After returning home, he farmed on the home place near Hazel Run. On June 28, 1947, he was married to Leona Feldhake of Montevideo. His wife and three daughters, Karen, Karla and Elaine survive him. Also surviving are four brothers: Hardine, Herman, Russell, Tommy; three sisters: Jennie (Mrs. George Greseth) of Hazel Run, Olga (Mrs. Gus Grabowski) of Manitoba, Canada, and Ella (Mrs. Bob Mecklenburg) of Rapid City, South Dakota; one uncle, Aadne Davidson of Winnipeg, Canada, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Halverson passed away July 2, 1962, at his home following an illness of about eight weeks. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Annie and Mabel (Mrs. Andrew Thompson). Herbert was active in church and community affairs and at the time of his death was president of the Hazel Run Produce and a member of the Anderson-Tongen Post No. 559 of the American Legion.
