Herbert C. Friberg was born on September 13, 1912, at Clarkfield, the son of Theodore and Jennie (Benson) Friberg. He was baptized in infancy by Pastor Theodore Steinert and was confirmed by the same pastor on June 13, 1926. He was a lifelong member of the Augustana Lutheran Church. He attended the public school at Clarkfield. He served his country for three and one-half years. During his life, he was engaged in the trade of painting and also worked a number of years at the local hatchery. On April 22, 1943, he was united in marriage to Hazel Sabe of Clarkfield. To this union two sons were born: David, a junior at Mankato State College and Donald, a junior at Clarkfield High School. Herbert entered the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis on June 26, 1964, and passed away Saturday morning, September 12, 1964, at the age of 51 years. Left to mourn his passing are his wife and two sons; two brothers: Walter and Herman, both of Clarkfield; five sisters: Agnes of Clarkfield, Ethel (Mrs. Ralph Lee) of Forest Lake, Minnesota, Alice (Mrs. James Jacobson) of Eugene, Oregon, Theodora (Mrs. Homer Ree) of Portland, Oregon, and Ruth (Mrs. Johnie Sturgeon) of Hazel Run; and a host of other relatives and friends. His parents and one sister, Josie (Mrs. Roy Nielson) preceded him in death. IN MEMORY OF HERBERT C.
