Henry Weiss, 97, died Tuesday, October 8, 1991, at the Clarkfield Care Center. His funeral was held Friday, October 11, 1991, at Bethany Lutheran Church of Arco with Pastor Gary Gable officiating. Organist was Treava Lundberg. Casket bearers were Gordon Blegen, Stanley Ostergard, Erling Pedersen, Chris Rasmussen, Gayle Rasmussen and Roger Rasmussen. Interment was in the Arco Cemetery, Arco, Minnesota. Military Rites by Arco VFW Post #6029. Henry Herman Weiss was born September 16, 1894, near Tyler to parents Henry and Anna Weiss. He was baptized at Tyler and confirmed at Arco. His schooling was in rural schools and a short time in Arco. He worked at various jobs as a young man. He entered military service in April 1918 and served in France and Belgium and was wounded while in action. He worked as a telephone lineman and for many years at the lumberyard in Arco. He also worked for the city of Arco and was janitor of his church for many years. He married Erma Sorensen on October 22, 1946. Henry was a member of the American Legion several years and a member of the Arco VFW Post #6029. He was active in the senior citizens and a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Arco. He is survived in death by a step-daughter, Juanita Giles, Granite Falls, Minnesota; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
