Henry Edwin Olson was born on May 4, 1884, in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Bengt and Pernilla (Swenson). He was baptized by Rev. B.F. Bengston, and was also confirmed by him on July 17, 1898, in the Swedish Lutheran Fridhem Church. Mr. Olson stayed on at the homestead in Tyro and continued farming until 1950, when his health began to fail. Since that time he spent much time at hospitals in Clarkfield and in Minneapolis. He endured much suffering, but through it all was patient and cheerful. This spring his condition became worse. He expressed his readiness and willingness to be taken home to the Lord. He passed away at his home on Sunday, April 25, 1954, at the age of sixty years, eleven months and twenty-one days. Henry had served for many years on the church board, the school board of district 29, as assessor in Tyro Township and as president of the Tyro Farmers Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Olaf; and one sister, Christine. He is survived by one brother, Ernest, and five sisters, namely, Emma and Elizabeth at home, who gave him much loving care; Mrs. Anna Rodness and Mrs. Reka Roedl of Clarkfield, and Selma (Mrs. Robert Devereaux) of Wadena, Minnesota. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends by who he will be sadly missed.
