Henry Olai Jacobson, son of Olaf and Annie (Halvorson) Jacobson, was born in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on October 6, 1883. He was baptized at the St. Lucas Lutheran Church by Rev. Knut Thorstenson on November 22, 1883, and confirmed at the Hazel Run Lutheran Church in 1898 by Rev. J.S. Strand. On November 24, 1909, he was united in marriage to Emma Larson of Clarkfield by Rev. O.T. Storaasli at Spring Creek Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with two sons and two daughters: James of Springfield, Oregon, LeRoy of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Amy (Mrs. Howard Lines) of Inglewood, California, and Evelyn (Mrs. David Kipley) of Coviina, California. Henry spent his life in the occupation of farming and resided about six miles west of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, until the time of his retirement in 1962 when he and his wife moved to Clarkfield. He served the Normania Township as a member of the town board for 30 years and also served the Spring Creek Lutheran Church as officer and sexton. His health had been failing the past few years. He entered the Clarkfield Community Hospital on the morning of July 17, 1966, and passed away two days later, having reached the age of 82 years. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, his parents, and two brothers, Clarence and Alex. Along with his wife and four children, he is survived by three brothers and two sisters: Alfred of Clarkfield, Herbert of Montevideo, Minnesota, George of Big Lake, Minnesota, Mrs. Marie Mickelson of Sauk Center, Minnesota, Mrs. Clara Stevens of Hanley Falls, Minnesota; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
