Henry John Kopitzke was born August 26, 1893, to John and Magdalena (Wiegers) Kopitzke in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized September 10, 1893, by Pastor Jacob Frey. He was confirmed April 12, 1908, by Pastor E.G. Fritz at St. John's Lutheran Church of Omro Township. On June 19, 1932, he married Judith Reese at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church parsonage by Pastor Carl Anderson. They made their home in Omro Township where their seven children were born, of which, five children survive. Henry lived in Omro Township his entire life. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Church. He was active in farming until the age of 75. He had many hobbies. He entered the Clarkfield Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, on February 28, 1983, where he passed away later that evening, at the age of 89 years, six months and two days. He is survived by his wife, Judith; five children: Norma Kettner of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dorothy (and Michael) DeYoung of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Lilah, (and Eugene) Rasmussen of Garvin, Minnesota, Evelyn of Boyd, Minnesota, and Donald of Ortonville, Minnesota; Twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Ida Lachelt and Clara Stueland, both of Clarkfield; four brothers: Herman of Montana, Oscar of Willmar, Minnesota, Edmund of Clarkfield and Edward of California; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son Harold in 1961; daughter Donna in 1953; a son-in-law; a grandson; five sisters: Emma, Bertha, Hulda, Lydia and Alma; two brothers: Otto and Landow; two children of John and Magdalena Kopitzke died in infancy.
