Knippel

Henry Knippel was born September 17, 1895, at Gibbon, Minnesota, the son of August and Anna (Hoefer) Knippel. As an infant he moved with his parents to Wood Lake, Minnesota, where he grew to manhood. He took his step-father's name, Fillbrandt, until moving to South Shore, South Dakota, to take over the publication of the Gazette, when he took his own father's name, Knippel. On June 16, 1921, Henry married Ellen Anderson of Clarkfield, Minnesota. He died June 15, 1953, while visiting at his brother-in-law's home, R.R. Anderson in Clarkfield. Survivors include his wife, Ellen; three brothers: W.C. Fillbrandt of Minneapolis, Lt. Col. A.C. Fillbrandt of Ft. Eustis, Texas, and Rolland Fillbrandt of Canton, South Dakota; four sisters: Mrs. Paul Linde and Mrs. William Jesseritz of Wood Lake, Minnesota, Mrs. E. Follet of Rock Rapids, Iowa, and Mrs. W.H.
