Henry Hanson was born in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, July 4, 1897, to Hans and Eline (Hollo) Hanson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church and has been a life time member there. On January 27, 1934, Henry was married to Elmira Virginia Vien at Granite Falls, Minnesota, by Rev. J.O. Wrolstad. To this union, three children were born: Carolyn, Mrs. Wayne Hegna of Glencoe, Minnesota, Dorothy, Mrs. Don Long of Reno, Nevada, and Bradley of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The first years of their marriage, they owned and operated a small store and gas station and he also did road maintenance work for many years. He was a seed corn salesman until three years ago. He served on the board of directors for R.E.C. for 27 years. He passed away at his rural Cottonwood, Minnesota home on Saturday night, May 9, 1981, at 10:30 p.m., at the age of 83 years, 10 months, and 5 days. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Elmira; three children: Carolyn, Dorothy and Bradley; two sons-in-law, Wayne Hegna and Don Long; four grandchildren: Kyle and Corey Hegna and Justin and Sari Long; a sister Ella Brose of San Francisco, California; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was prededed in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
