Henry "Spike" Halvorson was born August 23, 1896, at Hazel Run, Minnesota, to Halvor and Kjesti Skogen. He was baptized November 15, 1896, and confirmed October 15, 1911, at Hazel Run. On November 3, 1917, he was united in marriage to Ida Marie Gautefall. Two sons were born to this union, Hiram of Marshall, Minnesota, and Lloyd of Hanley Falls. He lived on the farm near Hazel Run until 20 years ago when he moved to Minneapolis. He passed away May 19, 1970, in Minneapolis, at the age of 73 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Annie Halvorson Dillon, Christy Halvorson Link, Tilla Halvorson Anthony; and three half brothers: Ole, Martin and Fred Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Florence of Minneapolis; his sons: Hiram and Lloyd; six grandchildren and two great grandsons.
