IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Henry Olender
Danielson
April 24, 1908 – April 24, 1908
Henry Olender Danielson was born to Hans and Olava (Tongen) Danielson on April 24, 1908, on a farm located about two and one-half miles southwest of Hazel Run. He was baptized June 6, 1908, at the Hazel Run Lutheran Church by Rev. John J. Salhus. In 1920 his parents sold their farm and moved to Spring Valley, Wisconsin. Olender's father passed away in 1922. Olender was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church at Spring Valley June 29, 1924, by Rev. S. Berven of that city. In 1925 Olender and his mother moved back to Hazel Run. She passed away at the Madison Lutheran Home in 1946. He was also preceded in death by a baby sister, Hazel in 1906; half- sisters Clara Halvorson and Dena Anderson; and half-brother, Daniel. Olender spent most of his time doing farm work. It was while working for Conrad Mauland near Cottonwood that he met Mildred Peterson of Minneota who later became his wife. They were married November 18, 1939, by Rev. C.E. Anderson. To this union three children were born: Lois (Mrs. James Hanson) of Tomah, Wisconsin, Duane and Lyle of Clarkfield. They started their married life farming in the Cottonwood community. He was a member of the St. Lucas Church, where he was custodian for a number of years, until 1960 when the family moved to the Clarkfield community. He then became a member of the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. His death occurred Saturday, May 3, 1969. He was taken suddenly ill while doing chores, and rushed to the Montevideo Hospital, where he passed away about 10:00 p.m. from a cerebral hemorrhage. He had suffered a severe stroke in April 1962, but had recovered well enough to resume his farming. Olender will be sadly missed by his wife, Mildred; his daughter, Lois; his sons, Duane and Lyle; son-in-law, James Hanson; daughter-in-law, Jhonda; and grandchildren: Karen and Gary Hanson; one sister, Alva Anderson of Spring Valley, Wisconsin; many nephews, nieces and cousins; and his father-in-law, Axel Peterson. Olender was blessed with a cheerful disposition, willing to carry his part of the load in church and in the community.
