Obituary

Henning A. Hagg, one of a family of ten children, was born to A.P. and Anna Hagg on a farm near Winthrop, Minnesota, on September 23, 1891. He attended grade school and high school in Winthrop, Minnesota. He continued his education at Gustavus Adolphus College from which he was graduated in 1917 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Mr. Hagg spent one year teaching at Nicollet, Minnesota, and three years as superintendent at Buffalo Lake, Minnesota. In 1921 he came to Clarkfield as superintendent and remained here until his retirement due to ill health in 1959, a period of 38 years. On August 12, 1924, he was united in marriage with Florence E. Johnson of Mankato, Minnesota. Mr. Hagg passed away at the Clarkfield Community Hospital on Thursday afternoon, September 7, 1961, just 16 days before his 70th birthday. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and one brother, Frank. This brother died in 1927 and his wife, six months later, leaving five young sons. The two youngest, Herbert and Albert made their home with Henning and his wife. Survivors include his wife, Florence, Albert of Marshall, Minnesota, Herbert of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Henry of Clarkfield, and their families; six brothers: Carl, Edward, Ernest, Halvor, Hilding and Victor, all of Winthrop, Minnesota; two sisters, Mrs. Alida Geslin of Winthrop and Hilder (Mrs. Clarence Totman) of Winona, Minnesota; and a large number of nieces and nephews, plus a host of friends.
