Hendrick Cornelius Lund, longtime business man of Clarkfield, passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis on Saturday, May 5, 1973. He had been a patient there for several weeks. Hendrick was born in Thor, Humbolt County, Iowa, on November 22, 1899. His parents were Samson J. Lund and Hannah Koslund Lund. He moved to Clarkfield with his family and the John Olson and Ovie Olson families in 1901 and settled on the farm in Tyro Township. He attended school in District 85 in Tyro Township and the School of Agriculture at the University of Minnesota. On July 1, 1931, he was united in marriage to Mabell Oien in Boyd, Minnesota. Three children were born to them. The Lunds have been residents of Boyd and Canby and, for the last 18 years, have lived in Clarkfield where they have operated Lund's Jewelry Store. Survivors include his wife, Mabell; his three children: Marcheta (Mrs. Duane Scribner), and Dennis of Minneapolis, and Victor of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; one grandson and seven granddaughters; three sisters: Julia (Mrs. Willis Johnson) of Chester, Iowa, Sarah, (Mrs. Elmer Haaland) of Clarkfield, and Oleanna (Mrs. Oscar Miller) of Dawson, Minnesota; and two brothers: Pedar of Wausau, Wisconsin, and Wilhelm of St. Peter, Minnesota. Mr. Lund was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Oliva (Mrs. Otis Payne), and four brothers, Joseph, George, Clarence and Edwin. IN MEMORY OF HENDRICK C.
