Helmer Joseph Nelson was born December 14, 1893, the son of Haaken and Bertha (Haakenson) Nelson, in Ten Mile Lake Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota. He attended school in district 30, northwest of Boyd and in district 90, southeast of Boyd. He farmed all his life. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd, the latter in 1909 by Pastor A.O. Langehough. He was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He passed away Wednesday, February 23, 1966, at his Ten Mile Lake farm home, at the age of 72 years. Left to mourn his departure are three sisters and three brothers: Gerda Nelson, at home, Inga (Mrs. Marvin Gustafson) of Canby, Minnesota, Esther (Mrs. Lyman Sack) of Minneapolis, Arthur, at home, Carl of Boyd, and Floyd of Spenard, Alaska, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Harriet, Jenny and Hannah and brothers, Hilman, Martin and Melvin. IN MEMORY OF HELMER J.
