Helmer Gordon Jolstad was born September 10, 1912, to Bernt and Severine (Johnson) Jolstad of Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized by Rev. Haugen and confirmed at Clarkfield Lutheran Church by Rev. Wee. He married Eldora Kompelien on March 8, 1941. They have two children, Richard of Bloomington, Minnesota, and Leroy of Mankato, Minnesota. Gordon farmed until he retired in 1972. He passed away at his farm home in Normania Township on Tuesday, November 26, 1985, at the age of 73. Gordon is survived by his wife Eldora; two sons; daughter-in-law Marge (Mrs. Richard Jolstad); two grandchildren, Terri and Jay; two sisters, Liala (Mrs. Phillip Hendrickson) and Burnette (Mrs. Alfred Formo); and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held at the St. Lucas Lutheran Church of Normania Township on Monday, December 2, 1985, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor John Christiansen officiating. Organist for the services was Mrs. Ann Stensrud with vocal music by Pastor John Christiansen. Final Resting Place is the St. Lucas Lutheran Church Cemetery, Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota.
