Obituary

Helma Olivia Wilson was born March 14, 1882, at Blue Mounds, Wisconsin, the daughter of Hans and Helena (Helleckson) Rolstad. She came to Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, as an infant. On November 25, 1900, she was married to Henry O. Wilson, son of Ole C. and Annie (Hendrickson) Wilson of the Hazel Run Community. To this union were born five children: Irvin, who died in 1915, Wallace of Phoenix, Arizona, H. Leo of Casper, Wyoming, Woodrow of Denver, Colorado, and Lois (Mrs. Glenn Willoughby) of Phoenix, Arizona. All the children were baptized and confirmed in the Hazel Run Lutheran Church. Henry and Helma raised their family on the farm southwest of Hazel Run. Mr. Wilson passed on the ninth of June, 1941. In 1947, Mrs. Wilson left the farm and moved to Granite Falls where she lived until 1957 when she moved to Phoenix, Arizona. There she was living at the time of her death on November 12, 1964. About five weeks ago she suffered a severe stroke. She was 82 years of age. In addition to her four children, Mrs. Wilson is survived by a brother, Harvey Rolstad of Hazel Run; a sister, Mrs. Ruby Lauve of Paradise, California; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mrs. Wilson took a great interest in the life and work of the church. She sang in the choir in the early days, worked in the ladies aid and wherever needed. The organ in the Hazel Run Lutheran Church was place there on December 20, 1947, by Mrs. Wilson.
