IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helga (Haugen)
Larson
September 13, 1871 – June 14, 1954
Mrs. Helga (Haugen) Larson was born in Indre Hornigdal, Nordfjord, Norway, September 13, 1871, to parents Rasmus and Malina Haugen. She slept peacefully away on Monday evening, June 14, 1954, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, where she was tenderly cared for two and one-half long years. She came to the United States in the spring of 1892, coming to the home of her sister and brother- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Christ Strand at Mankato, Minnesota, staying there and at Norseland, Minnesota, for a short while before coming to Yellow Medicine County to the home of her brothers, Iver and Robert Haugen of Clarkfield where she made her home until her marriage. On November 17th, 1898, she was united in marriage to Hans P. Larson of Friendship Township, who preceded her in death in February, 1931. To this union four children were born: Hannah (Mrs. Ben Gunderson) of Minneapolis, Minnie, who passed away in 1940, Raymond and Gerhard of Clarkfield, who together with three step-children, Emma (Mrs. Henry Jacobson) of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, Mable (Mrs. Henry Danielson) of Dawson, Minnesota, and Alfred Larson of Paulson, Montana; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Haugen of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and Iver Haugen of Clarkfield; and a large number of nieces and nephews survive her. Two sisters, Sina (Mrs. Christ Strand) and Olina (Mrs. Hans Strand) of Mankato, Minnesota, and one brother, Abraham Haugen of Glendive, Montana, and two brothers who died in infancy, all preceded her in death. She lived all her life on the farm until about two and one-half years ago when she fell and fractured a hip, from which she never recovered. At the time of her death she was 82 years, nine months and one day. She was a kind and loving mother and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Blessed be her memory.
