Helena Macht was born January 5, 1912, on a farm in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the daughter of Reinhard and Ida (Galow) Steinke. She was baptized February 4, 1912, in St. John's Lutheran Church by Rev. Fritz. At the age of eight she moved with her parents and family to a farm in North Germany Township, Wadena County, Minnesota. She was confirmed on May 23, 1926, in Zion Lutheran Church in North Germany Township by Rev. Brockroff. On May 23, 1931, she was united in marriage to Henry Macht, after which they moved to a farm near Boyd, where she lived the remainder of her life. Four daughters were born to this union, one of whom died in infancy. After a lingering illness she succumbed to death at her farm home March 7, 1962, at the age of 50 years. She is survived by her husband; three daughters: Arlene (Mrs. Wayne Spless) of Dawson, Minnesota, Irene of Montevideo, Minnesota, and Florence at home; her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reinhard Steinke; two brothers: Adolph and Arnold, all of Verndale, Minnesota; one sister Hildegard (Mrs. Wayne Paurus) of Minneapolis; and also many relatives and close friends.
