Mrs. Helena (Tiemann) Leppke was born October 7, 1882, in DeWitt, Nebraska, the daughter of William Tiemann and Lottie (Noris) Tiemann. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith by Rev. A. Fleishmann. When six months old she moved with her parents to Faulk County, South Dakota. On April 18, 1886, her mother passed away and she was taken by an aunt to Nebraska where she made her home with her grandparents. At the age of six she returned to her father in South Dakota and April 18, 1897, she was confirmed by Rev. Meyer. In 1902 she was united in marriage with Herman Leppke and resided in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. To this union were born three children, namely, Alfred, Erna and Edmund and two stepsons, John and Fred Leppke. From 1932 until 1948 she lived with her daughter in Maxwell Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota. In 1948 she moved to Montevideo, Minnesota, and lived there until 1953. From 1953 until her death she again lived with her daughter in Maxwell Township. She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 1922, and one son, Edmund, who passed away in 1913, and a brother William Tiemann of Marysville, Washington, who passed away in 1958. She leaves to mourn one daughter, Mrs. Alfred Schmidtke of Boyd; one son, Alfred Leppke of Montevideo, Minnesota; and two step-sons, Fred Leppke of Minneota, Minnesota, and John Leppke of Dawson, Minnesota, and one sister, Mrs. Ewald Westphal of Montevideo, Minnesota. She also left twelve grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
