Helena Jorgenson was born January 30, 1865, to Marget and Ole Brekke. On December 2, 1880, she was united in marriage to Elias Jorgenson. The young couple homesteaded the farm west of Clarkfield at the time of their marriage, but after a few years moved to Clarkfield where he operated a meat market in the block west of main square. The family lived on the second floor over another business building which they owned and located just south of main square. Here they lived for three years when they decided to return to their farm home. While in town, Mrs. Jorgenson helped organize the first ladies aid of the present Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Fourteen children were born to this union, seven of which survive and were present at the funeral, namely, George and Mrs. Hilding Ronding of Duluth, Minnesota, Elmer of Clearbrook, Minnesota, Oscar, Harry and Thelma at home and Effie (Mrs. Leslie Johnson) of Granite Falls, Minnesota. Her husband passed away in June 1908. About six years later the mother and her children moved to Boyd where they purchased a home. At various times during the years, they lived on the old farm home. While there she helped organize the Tyro Aid, also a branch of the local Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Mrs. Jorgenson is survived by two great great grandchildren and over ninety-six direct descendants. She passed quietly away at her farm home on Monday, November 15, 1954, nearly reaching her ninetieth milestone.
