Helen Thorson was born on September 26, 1879, on a farm near Minneota, Minnesota, the daughter of Knute and Aasne Kvanbeck. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith and confirmed in 1892 by Rev. A.N. Kleven at the Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota. She was a member of St. Lucas Lutheran Church most of her life. On May 17, 1909, she was united in marriage to Peder Thorson. To this union were born, a son, Knute, and one daughter Anna (Mrs. Oscar West) of Clarkfield. The first year of marriage was spent near Highlanding, Minnesota. The following year they moved to Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, where she spent the remainder of her life. Mrs. Thorson passed away October 12, 1961, at Clarkfield Community Hospital at the age of 82 years. Peder passed away December 31, 1944. Her parents and one brother, Swen, also preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Knute, and daughter, Mrs. Oscar West; her three grandchildren: Ralph West of Minneapolis, Stanley West of St. Paul, and Shirley West (Mrs. Roger Shawd) of Aberdeen, South Dakota; two great grandchildren; three brothers: Halvor and Jake Kvanbeck of Minneota, Minnesota, and Albert Kvanbeck of Minneapolis; one sister, Nellie (Mrs. R.N. Anderson) of Marshall, Minnesota. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
