Helen Edith (Olson) Wilson of rural Hazel Run, Minnesota, was born on December 17, 1921, in Hanley Falls, Minnesota, at the home of her parents Christine (Midboe) Olson and Edwin Olson. She passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2003, at the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota, where she had been a resident for only one day. She reached the age of 81 years, 8 months and 18 days. Helen was the oldest of eight children. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and graduated from the Hanley Falls High School in 1939. Helen married Curtis Wilson of Hazel Run at Fort Worth, Texas, on February 13, 1942. To this union three children were born: Curtis Jr., Kathleen, and Mark. They resided in Texas for ten years while Curtis pursued a career in Aviation. In May of 1951, the family moved into a new farm home at rural Hazel Run, where they remained engaged in farming for the next 52 years. Being a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and active in Hazel Run Lutheran for 50 years, she served in many capacities including Sunday School and WELCA. She also was a member of the Garden Club and Homemakers Club and past board member at Luther Haven Nursing Home. She and her husband Curtis loved to Square Dance and were active in several organizations over the years. Her Tuesday Bible Study Group was one of her greatest joys. Helen is survived by her husband of 61 years; two sons: Curtis Wilson, Jr. of Spokane, Washington, and Mark (and Elaine Halverson) Wilson of rural Granite Falls, Minnesota; and daughter Kathleen (and John Isely) of Walla Walla, Washington. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Curtis (and Amy) Wilson III, Jonathan (and Sara) Hellberg-Wilson, Jeremy (and Noni) Wilson, Chris (and Karen) Isely, Charles (and Daniele Larsen) Isely, and Katie and Jenny Isely all of the Pacific Northwest area. Also surviving are two local grandchildren: Lance Wilson and Rosina Halverson Studer of rural Granite Falls and six great grandsons. Helen is also survived by four sisters: Maxine Reishus of New London, Minnesota, Donna Schmidt of Wood Lake, Minnesota, Verna Olson of Zimmerman, Minnesota, and Lillian Knox of Granite Falls; and one brother Robert Olson of Faribault, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Richard and Earl Olson. Blessed be her memory.
