Helen Krogstad was born on April 12, 1896, in Dawson, Minnesota, to Peter C. Krogstad and Ida M. (Stratmoen) Krogstad. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Helen graduated from High School and Normal Training School and taught rural school for several years in Lac qui Parle County. Helen loved music and taught piano lessons for many years while caring for her parents at home. She had no idea of how many pupils she helped with a musical career. Helen was organist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd for over 40 years, until her retirement in 1982. Helen appreciated friends who would stop by to enjoy a cup of coffee and her sense of humor. She has been a resident of the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson, Minnesota for the past seven years. She passed away at the Johnson Memorial Home on Friday, April 30, 1993, at the age of 97 years. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Ida Krogstad, three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her sisters: Harriet Persson, Chisago City, Minnesota, and Alice Rude, Osseo, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Mabel Krogstad, Bird Island, Minnesota; Nieces and nephews.
