Helen Henrietta Ida (Bachman-Hartke) Footh was born August 8, 1912 in Swanville, Minnesota to parents Friedrick and Emma (Lehrke) Bachman. She was baptized September 15, 1912. Helen was adopted by William Hartke in 1914. Helen married Walter Footh on December 15, 1931 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wood Lake, MN by Pastor C.G. Schmidt. Helen and Walter farmed near Boyd for 38 years until they retired in Wood Lake in December of 1970. She entered the Clarkfield Care Center in 1987 and was a resident there until her death on Sunday morning, May 5, 1996 at the age of 83 years, 8 months, and 29 days. Helen enjoyed gardening, canning, travel, and playing cards. She was a member of the Country Birthday Club till her death. She was also a member of St. John's Lutheran Womens Society. She is survived by brothers: George (and Rose) Hartke, Walter (and Jeannetta) Hartke all of Wood Lake; and sisters: Otillia Hriebregtce of Yakima, WA, Augusta Jenc of Benson, MN, Adeline (and Herb) Gallion of lsle, MN, Pearl (and Pete) Aadland of Chisago City, MN, Elda Revok of lsle, MN and Alice (and Dick) Weber of Witcha Falls, TX and many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, three sisters, Violet, Emma, and LaVonne and two brothers, William and Clarence.
