Helen Maria Rodseth was born in Friendship Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on October 13, 1897, to C.S. and Maren (Peterson) Hellzen. She was baptized in the Fridhem Church and confirmed September 15, 1912, in Spring Creek Church by Rev. O.T. Storaasli. Mrs. Rodseth had attended country school and graduated from Clarkfield High School with the class of 1917. On January 2, 1920, she was united in marriage to Peder Rodseth. They lived in the Twin Cities for a time, moving to the Clarkfield area and farmed until the death of her husband in 1953. In 1955 she moved to Clarkfield where she has made her home with her sister Hannah. She was admitted to the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital late Friday and died of heart failure the same evening at the age of 76 years. Survivors include two sisters, Hannah Hellzen of Clarkfield and Mrs. Ovidia Larson of Pierre, South Dakota; a brother-in-law Oscar Peterson; and nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband; her parents; a sister, Mrs. Oscar Peterson; and two brothers, Wilhelm and Herbert. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 6, 1974, at Israel Lutheran Church, Rev. Dean A. Fodness officiating. Vocal music was by Mrs. Myron Friberg and Mrs. John Sturgeon. Mrs. Arne Berg was organist. Casket Bearers were Emil Larson, Louis Eye, Arne Berg, Gerald Just, Melvin Applewick and Marvin Kaatz.
