Hazel "Peggy" Randall was born on August 21, 1915, in Griggs County, North Dakota, to parents John and Mabel (Steinborn) Wells. She was baptized and confirmed in North Dakota. Peggy attended school in Cooperstown, North Dakota. As a young woman, she took the train to Minnesota and worked in Granite Falls. She then worked for Hosea Randall at the Milan Beach Resort. Peg married Claude Randall on August 11, 1934, at Milbank, South Dakota. They were the parents of two children: Roy and Rita. She continued to work at the resort for several years. Claude and Peg moved to Ortonville, Minnesota, and ran a cafe there for many years. They then operated the Sportman's Bar and Grill in Appleton, Minnesota. They retired in about 1986-87. Claude passed away in February of 1991. Peg moved to Appleton and lived with her daughter and in November of 2005 she moved to Riverview Assisted Living Apartments in Appleton. After she retired from the restaurant business, she did the cooking and baking for her daughter's lunch wagon business. She loved flowers and she had many flower beds. She also liked to embroider and she made many quilts before it became to difficult for her to see. Peg worked in the restaurant business for many years. She enjoyed baking and cooking. She was especially good at making donuts. She also enjoyed dancing. Peg taught many of the neighbor children how to waltz. Peg passed away at the Appleton Municipal Hospital on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at the age of 91 years and 8 days. She is survived by her daughter, Rita Connick of Appleton, Minnesota, and her son Roy Randall of Bellingham, Minnesota. She is also survived by her grandsons Randy (and Sandra) Randall and their children Kaitlyn, Kelsey, and Jack of Concord, California, and Ron Randall of Ketchikan, Alaska, and sister Lorraine Elliot of Oregon; sisters-in-law: Myrna Wells of North Dakota, and Jane Randall and Mary Randall Schmiesing of Milan, Minnesota; brother-in-law Ray Nelson of Cooperstown, North Dakota; nephews: Jeff, Jason, and Jay Randall; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Claude; daughter-in-law Arlene Randall; brother-in-law Joel Randall; Hosea and Mildred Randall; two brothers; and six sisters.
