Harvey Rolstad was born in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Hans and Helena (Helleckson) Rolstad. He is the last member of his family to depart this life. There were four other brothers and sisters: Helena and Harvey, both died as infants, Helma (Mrs. Henry Wilson) and Ruby (Mrs. Milton Lauve). On November 9, 1916, he was united in marriage to Clara Kise, also of Normania Township. Their first six months together were spent in Minneapolis where he worked as a mechanic in a garage. The couple then took over their farm four miles east and two south of Clarkfield where they have lived the past 52 years. Three children were born to them: Hazel (Mrs. J. Arnold Johnson) of Excelsior, Minnesota, James of Cypress, California, and Violet (Mrs. Donald Hanson) of Torrance, California. Harvey was active on the Friendship town board for many years, he served as school bus driver and also enjoyed the band, taking part in both Clarkfield and Hazel Run groups. Havey passed away at the Clarkfield Community Hospital on Monday, March 4, 1968, at the age of 76 years, after an illness of a couple of years or more. He is survived by his widow, Clara, his three children, six grandchildren and one great grandson.
