Obituary

Harvey LeRoy Quenemoen was born in Madison, Minnesota, on July 9, 1920. He was the oldest of five children born to Hjalmer and Alma (Hanson) Quenemoen. He was baptized at Borgon Church of rural Madison and confirmed at Baxter Church, rural Montevideo. In early childhood, he moved with his mother and siblings to the Boyd area and later the Montevideo area. He attended school at District 30 in Lac qui Parle County and later Morris Ag School. During the war he worked in San Diego building aircraft. On September 8, 1942, he married Lornetta Buchholz. They moved to the farm north of Boyd where he farmed until retirement. Harvey loved working outdoors, particularly with his Ford Major and B Farmall tractors, cutting and trimming grass, fixing and collecting various things. He enjoyed his morning trips to town for coffee and visiting. Harvey also enjoyed taking trips north to Roseau and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Harvey passed away Saturday, December 29, 2007, at Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, Minnesota, at the age of 87 years. Harvey is survived by his wife, Nettie; two children: Lois (Richard) Moen of Anoka, Minnesota, and Carol Nelson (Niel Olson) of Benson, Minnesota. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Kimberli (Thomas) Kuhlmann of Boyd, Richard (Pamela) Moen of Cedar, Minnesota, Cory (Lisa) Nelson of Clarkfield and Kyle (Stacy) Nelson of Hastings, Minnesota; seven great grandchildren: Mariah and Katarina Kuhlmann, Shauney and Andrew Moen, Braden Nelson and Morgan and Evan Nelson; one sister, Delores Haugen of Montevideo and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son-in-law, Curtis Nelson; one sister and two brothers.
