Harry Oliver Stokke was born on November 16, 1908, in Normania Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Olai and Helena (Christofferson) Stokke. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church and attended rural school in Normania Township. Harry married Thelma Leona Christianson on December 10, 1933. They spent their first year of marriage in rural Mapleton, Minnesota, then moved back to rural Cottonwood, Minnesota, and lived there until 1939. In that year, they moved to a farm south of Clarkfield, Minnesota, where they farmed and resided for 55 years. In May of 1994 they moved to Clarkview Apartments in Clarkfield. Thelma died on January 7, 1997. Harry and Thelma were married for 64 years. He moved to Weiner Memorial Nursing Home in Marshall, Minnesota, on February 4, 2000. Harry was very contented everywhere he lived. He served many years on the Friendship Township Board and was a faithful and active member at Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Harry passed away on Friday, January 25, 2002, at the Weiner Memorial Nursing Home at the age of 93 years, 2 months, and 9 days. Harry will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Harry is survived by his five children. Daughters: Elaine Boroughs of Bremerton, Washington, Jan (and Bob) Mensink of Burnsville, Minnesota, Linda (and Dick) Hagen of Morris, Minnesota; and sons: Rich (and Sue) of Deephaven, Minnesota, and Don (and Nona) of Marshall, Minnesota. Also surviving are his extended family: Karla Stokke (and Dick) Van Moorlehem of Morris, Minnesota; and Grandchildren: Debbie (Boroughs) Foraker, David and Dennis Boroughs, Donna (Boroughs) Hirayam, Pam (Daug) Berthelson, Beth (Ilaug) Olson, Cindy (Stokke) Berset, Brett Stokke, Darin Stokke, Alison (Stokke) Winkleman, Troy, Travis and Lance Hagen. He is also survived by 15 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; sisters: Clara Christensen, Helen Albeck, Eleanora Nicolai; and sister-in-law Alice Christianson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Thelma; three brothers: Bernard, Selmer, and Carl; one infant sister Hannah; and nephew Larry Stokke, who lived with the family for several years.
