Harry Sharkey, 91, of Clarkfield, Minnesota, died Friday, November 15, 1996, at the Clarkfield Care Center. His funeral was held Tuesday, November 20, 1996, at Augustana Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Mesner officiating. Organist was Kathy DuFrane and soloist, Annette Sharkey. Casket Bearers were Charles and Roger Brock, Bill, Jon, Larry Sharkey and Darrell Vik. Interment was in the Clarkfield City Cemetery. Harry Harris Sharkey was born June 17, 1905 at Webster City, Iowa, to William and Eva Sharkey. In 1915 he moved with his parents to Hanley Falls, Minnesota, where he grew up. He graduated from Morris West Central School of Agriculture in 1927. He married Lucy Momsen on November 23, 1928. They farmed for several years west of Hanley Falls, then moved into Clarkfield when he purchased the IH Implement Dealership. In 1960 they moved to Rapid City, South Dakota, and operated a motel for a few years. Harry and Lucy returned to Clarkfield when he purchased his father's former farm east of Clarkfield. He resided there until he entered the Clarkfield Care Center. Harry had served one term as mayor of Clarkfield. He is survived by his brother Harland (and Edna) of Hanley Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Hallie Vik of Clarkfield and Mrs. Helen Reishus (and Franklin) of Rapid City, South Dakota; sister-in-law, Evelyn Manteufe Sharkey of Mesa, Arizona; and ten nieces and nephews and their families.
