Obituary

Harry Vinton Edmunds was born on March 26, 1911, to Vinton and Rose (Walle) Edmunds at Boyd, Minnesota. The family moved to Clarkfield in 1912. He was baptized in the Methodist Church in Clarkfield and attended Clarkfield Public Schools, graduating from high school in 1931. He worked in CCC camps for four years. Upon returning to Clarkfield he worked for Roy Velde and Orville Mork in the hardware store. Entering the army in 1942, Harry took basic training at Fort Riley, Kansas. He was also stationed at San Angelo and San Antonio, Texas, where he was an instructor in chemical warfare and served at Quito, Ecquidor and Panama. Following his discharge from the service in January 1946, Mr. Edmunds returned and became manager of Mork's Hardware. In 1953 he leased the Standard Service Station and opened Harry's Drive-Inn. He operated the station until 1961 and the Drive-Inn until his death. Harry was a school bus driver for 12 years On June 6, 1948, Harry married Georgia Weisbrod at Cottonwood, Minnesota, with Pastor H. Madland of the Norwegian Lutheran Church performing the ceremony. To this union, one daughter, Mary Louise, was born. Harry passed away April 11, 1975, at the University Hospital in Minneapolis, at the age of 64 years. Survivors include his widow; his daughter, Mary; brothers: Howard of Minneapolis, and James of Snoqualmic, Washington; a step daughter, Jeri Williams of Seattle, Washington; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; ten nieces; and ten nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Lillian and a brother, Steve. IN MEMORY OF HARRY V.
