Harriet Alvina Orres was born August 16, 1920, at Clarkfield, Minnesota, to parents Martin and Amanda (Larson) Hansen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. On December 26, 1940, she married Lawrence Orres. They were the parents of one daughter, Andrea. She traveled with her husband in the army until he was shipped overseas, at which time she returned to Clarkfield. After World War II, Harriet, Larry and daughter Andrea made their home in Clarkfield. Harriet worked for a time at the local telephone company and then as a Postal Clerk at the Clarkfield Post Office until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, card parties with friends and golf and belonged to a bowling league. She was a member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Harried passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, Montevideo, Minnesota, from a stroke at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 12 days. She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Holden of Minneapolis, Minnesota; grandson Corey Grantham of Minneapolis; granddaughter Ghillian Grantham of San Diego, California; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers: Everett and Chester Hansen; and nephew Richard Orres. She will be greatly missed.
