Harold Hans Wegener was born June 4, 1912 in Harris, Iowa to parents Peter and Emma (Mehrens) Wegener. He was baptized as a young child in Iowa. In 1917 the family moved to Minnesota and made their home in Maynard. Harold attended Maynard Public School. Harold married Mae Lorinda Broughton on September 16, 1937 at the parsonage in Cottonwood. Harold and Mae were blessed with a son, Paul Harold. They farmed on the farm, where Mae grew up, their entire life. Harold enjoyed visiting with people, gardening, and fishing. He was a member of St. Lucas Lutheran Church. Harold passed away at his farm on Thursday, April 25, 1996 at the age of 83 years, 10 months, and 22 days. He is survived by his wife Mae of rural Cottonwood, son Paul (and wife Marian) of Merrill, WI; and grandchildren Leah (and husband Matt) Burbach and Sarah Wegener. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Carl Broughton of Neeah, WI, Alvin (and Delora) Broughton of Osage, MN, and Henry (and Myrna) Broughton of Cottonwood and sister-in-law Agnes Severson of Clarkfield, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Purl Wegener and Ralph Wegener.
