Harold James Torke was born April 13, 1923 in Sandnes Township to parents Peter and Mina (Christiansen) Torke. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church. Harold attended Hanley Falls School. He was a member of the 1941 graduating class. Harold married Genevieve Waller on October 21, 1945 at the parsonage in Hanley Falls. He farmed and had a dairy business his entire life in Sandnes and Wood Lake Townships. His love for horses, gardening, and flowers was much enjoyed in his retirement years. Harold passed away at his farm home on Saturday evening, May 18, 1996 at the age of 73 years, 1 month, and 6 days. He is survived by his wife, Genevieve, daughter Gloria and son-in-law Michael Gunlogson of Clarkfield, and son Howard of Hanley Falls and his fiancee Sandra Woodruff of Redwood Falls. He is also survived by five grandsons: Matthew, Andrew and Samuel Gunlogson and Chad and Adam Torke, three brothers and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents.
